The Problem
There are many situations in which you may feel the need for an objective, independent and confidential view of your plans and policies. Some of the most creative ideas emerge from free and open discussion, and there is a high risk if strategies are not fully thought through and refined.
You may for example feel that:
- You would welcome another informed perspective on your business aims and strategies;
- You would like to discuss your plans and methods openly with someone outside the organisation who is experienced enough to comment and challenge;

Your concern is likely to centre on finding the right person; someone with the right mix of expertise and empathy, and someone with business acumen as well as fundraising experience. A person who can challenge your ideas while still helping you to feel supported; someone who can offer strategic as well as practical advice, and who has a wide range of people skills.
You will want this person to be someone with whom you can feel empathy. They will need to be more than an expert in charity fundraising. This is not just about getting advice, it's about a confidential sounding board you can trust, someone with the flexibility to act as critical friend, mentor or coach as the need dictates. You need to feel confident they will add value not just to you but, through you, to your organisation as a whole.

He enjoys working with senior executives in the not-for-profit sector, challenging and refining their ideas and offering support in formulating practical, effective strategies.
Critical Friend
With a diversity of business experience under his own belt, Patrick can offer a personal, supportive yet challenging service. He will listen to your ideas and discuss them with you, acting as a sounding board, helping you refine them and, if required, offering practical help with solutions.
