Fiona Colley, Associate Consultant
Prior to joining Tarnside, Fiona spent seven years as a Director at Glasgow Science Centre where she latterly had responsibility for Fundraising & Development, Marketing, PR, Corporate Events and Catering with a staff of 30 and a budget of £2 million. Whilst at the Science Centre, Fiona was instrumental in establishing the centre as one of Scotland’s leading 5* visitor attractions. Fiona was invited by the Scottish Executive to take a lead in implementing the Tourism Framework For Change and was Chair of the Customer Experience and Quality Implementation Group for 2 years. Simultaneously she also sat on the management group of Pride and Passion: an industry led initiative that encouraged innovation and best practice to ensure quality experiences within the Scottish Tourism Industry. In 2009 Fiona was appointed to the Board of Destination Dumfries & Galloway – the new industry led destination development organisation for the region. She also represents the Third Sector on the newly formed Employability and Skills Forum for Dumfries & Galloway. A strategic thinker with twenty years experience in marketing, PR and business development, Fiona has used her skills in fundraising to support a number of leading charitable organisations: Barnado’s – at which Fiona was responsible for developing payroll giving. RNIB – where Fiona set up payroll giving across Scotland and was responsible for establishing corporate fundraising. BigHearted Scotland - the leading charity partnership in Scotland supporting children and adults - at which Fiona was a Director. Epilepsy Scotland - where Fiona spent five years as Head of Fundraising, successfully increasing income by 160%. Springboard UK – acting in a project management role Fiona has successfully secured statutory funding to deliver employability and training programmes to assist school pupils and unemployed people into the hospitality & tourism industry. Fiona was also one of the first industry professionals to achieve the Institute of Fundraising Certificate in Scotland. Fiona’s attention to detail and her ability to develop applications has led to successful donations from many of the largest funds. Fiona is a holistic thinker and can offer practical solutions to organisational strategic requirements. Using her insight and creativity she works closely with organisations to develop new ideas and tailored approaches to overcome challenges.
